Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners tables.

Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
