Together Can Be Streamed, and It Might Make or Break Your Romantic Bond.

We present a dare for those in enduring partnerships who are fans of scary movies: Get comfortable with your partner and stream Together. This 2025 indie hit has now made its online premiere on the Hulu service. At first glance, it could look like typical biological terror, but within Together resides a intense contemplation about how we choose to love our partners.

A Debut Feature Investigating Partnership Complexities

Together represents the introductory feature for director Michael Shanks. It stars actors Alison Brie and Dave Franco as a couple named Tim and Millie, an unmarried couple that have remained a couple for over ten years. Having wed in reality in 2017, the two stars infuse a particular energy to their portrayals, skillfully embodying both the joys and frustrations of a long-term relationship.

The narrative begins when Millie and Tim relocate from the urban environment to the country for professional reasons. A familiar story element, admittedly, but that’s largely where the tropes cease. Together evolves into as much a examination of mental states of the couple's dynamic as it is a movie featuring biological frights.

An Otherworldly Trigger

While walking near their new home, a storm hits, and Millie and Tim tumble into an underground cave. After being trapped overnight there and finally finding a way out, a mysterious influence begins influencing the duo. This force creates a supernatural closeness between them that goes exceeding simple connection.

The complete narrative is a gradually intensifying fright fest, weaving in bits of dreamlike terrors, disturbing (but not excessively graphic) biological grotesqueries, and surprisingly comedic dialogue (sometimes in the middle of something horrific). Shanks weaves these elements together neatly and delivers them in a consistently growing atmosphere of fear.

Nuanced Portrayals

A great deal of Together is only the performances of its stars, and they masterfully render numerous complexities to the dynamic between Tim and Millie. Her self-assurance and emotional bond is suffering due to a emotional and physical gap. Her unspoken irritation of Tim for his unwillingness to focus on anything other than his failing musical ambitions slowly bubbles to the surface.

Tim, on the other hand feels trapped and separated by Millie, who’s the cause they’ve moved to the country and removed from his social circle. He dreads the notion of totally forfeiting his sense of self in another person. This fear is amplified by the circumstance he lacks a driver's license and relies on Millie for mobility.

Shanks’ smartest move is that he never makes one partner or the other the obvious villain.

Both characters confront the sort of issues that come with long-term unions over a long period. Fundamentally, they still love one another. They share moments of joy, provide solace, and open up at times. But beneath it all, there’s an persistent feeling of questioning about their bond.

Allegory and Meaning

While the paranormal elements in Together represent these anxieties of unhealthy attachment and totally devoting oneself to a partner, the metaphor does not come across as hamfisted or self-important. Instead, these more disturbing, unsettling scenes provide a brilliant analogue to the relationship narrative. Both the frights and the fights work together in harmony.

A Debated Finale

Together’s final act, which is best experienced firsthand, has left audiences divided on the movie's final takeaway about codependent relationships. Reports indicate that those not in relationships have understood the narrative as a powerful case for avoiding commitment. Conversely, a few pairs experiencing tension found that the film actually helped them resolve their issues.

If you are alone or with a partner, your own response could act as a telling indicator of how you think about commitment. Will the ending sow feelings of uneasiness and dread, or a heartwarming sense of hope? Will you identify in either protagonist and yell at the screen, or simply look at your partner and state, “I’d do that for you”?

Regardless of the outcome, Together is an experiment you can embark on today.

Together is currently playing on Hulu's platform at present.
